Pamplona travel information
Pamplona , capital of Navarre, is best known for its festival, San Fermines, which runs from 5th to 16th July. With non-stop partying, the highlight of the Pamplona fiesta is when bulls are left to charge around the old town, whilst the young men run in front. With so many places to see in Pamplona it is difficult to know where to start. The town is encircled by its ancient stone ramparts, and has its lovely squares, quaint cafés, and striking historical buildings, as well as nearby hamlets to explore. The Gothic church of San Saturnino and the other monuments, houses and churches almost walk you through the history of the town, all amidst the new modern buildings like the city hall. The Museum of Navarre, with its collection of archaeological pieces and works of art, is a worthwhile attraction to visit. But with the Cathedral of Santa María la Real, The Palace of Navarre and the mausoleum of King Carlos III the Noble also here its a difficult choice. Nearby, the little villages of Urdax and Zugarramurdi are well known for their caves and for being the old site of sorcerers' covens.
